Dear Students of Federal University Dutsin-Ma,

Sequel to the approval of the University Management, we are pleased to announce that the 2025 Student Union Government (SUG) Election has been scheduled to take place on Saturday-Sunday, 12-13th April, 2025.

The Student Union Government plays a pivotal role in representing the collective voice of the student body, fostering unity, and addressing student welfare and concerns. This election is an opportunity for you to actively participate in shaping the direction of our university's student community.

Note: Only Duly Registered Students for the second semester 2024/2025 are eligible to vote and be voted for in these elections.

Positions to Contest

The Electoral Committee shall conduct elections into the under-listed elective positions for the 2024/2025 academic session:

  • President
  • Vice-President - Male
  • Vice-President - Female
  • Secretary General
  • Assistant Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Financial Secretary
  • Public Relations Officer
  • Director of Sports
  • Director of Socials
  • Director of Environment
  • Director of Sales
  • Director of Academics
  • Director Transport
  • Welfare Officer
  • Hall Representatives Male
  • Hall Representatives Female
  • Auditor General
  • Students Representatives (One per Faculty)

Requirements for Eligibility to Contest

  1. Aspirants must be fair-minded and with impeccable character.
  2. Aspirants for all elective positions must have acquired a minimum of 3.00 CGPA in the last session's examination result and should be of intermediate level in English Language proficiency.
  3. All aspirants must buy, complete and return the expression of interest form. They must also fill in their details on the online voting platform, print and submit a copy alongside the completed purchased form (login details will be given to contestants by the official responsible for selling the forms).
  4. The cost of Expression of Interest Form for the post of President, Vice-President and Secretary General is N5,000; while for all other elective positions is N3,000.
  5. All aspirants must present themselves physically for the Screening by the Electoral Committee.
  6. All aspirants must present themselves for Manifesto to be conducted by the Electoral Committee.
  7. In the event that only one candidate is duly nominated for any of the positions, such candidate (in all cases) shall be declared elected, with at least simple majority of the total vote cast.
  8. If there are two or more candidates nominated for each of the positions, the candidates with the highest number of votes shall be declared duly elected.
  9. In the event of a tie between two candidates in any of the positions, a re-run election will be conducted within 48hrs.
  10. Having met the above mentioned set academic and moral, the Electoral Committee is at liberty to set other peculiar criteria in the best interest of the University.
  11. All registered students can vote and can be voted for in any of the vacant positions in the Student Union, except for the position of President and Secretary General, which can only be contested by 300 level students.

Campaigns Code of Conduct

  1. Candidates shall conduct their campaigns with decorum
  2. Candidates shall avoid the use of malignant and derogatory statements about opponent or other candidates during campaign and debates
  3. Candidates shall be responsible for any damage caused in the placement or removal of campaign materials, and shall be liable for the cost of repairing such damages
  4. Campaigns are only allowed within the university campuses and students Halls of residence
  5. Campaigns are highly prohibited on the date of the Elections
  6. Vote buying is prohibited
  7. Any attempt to subvert the general will of voters shall be reported to the appropriate authority
  8. Candidates or supporters must not attack or harass any member of the electorate Committee
  9. Candidates shall not deface the University with campaign materials

Voting Guidelines

Online Accreditation Process

  1. Students' accreditation starts at 6:00am online
  2. Students are to input their portal login details at the online voting System

Online Voting Process

  1. The voting will be conducted electronically online via https://evoting.fudutsinma.edu.ng/
  2. Voting starts at at 6:00am
  3. Students are to login into the Voting platform with their Matriculation Number and Password
  4. The result of the e-voting will be declared at the end of the voting process

Other Guidelines

  1. Agents are to observe and report any act of election misconduct to the electoral committee. Any agent that conduct himself or herself in a disorderly manner or disrupt the electioneering process shall be made to face disciplinary action in accordingly
  2. Only students that are duly registered for the Second Semester 2024/2025 Academic Session are eligible to contest or to vote

NOTE: Candidates that violates any of the above rules and regulations governing this election will be disqualified and handed over to the university management for appropriate action.
